Lexus LFA Breaks Champagne Glass With Science !

The world hasn't heard too much from the Toyota supercar since the carbon fiber wonder hit the scene last year, but that doesn't mean the company hasn't been playing with its new toy. Toyota just released a new spot featuring the V10 beast roaring to life and shattering a champagne glass with nothing but its exhaust note. We're well aware that skepticism is the internet's middle name, but Toyota claims that it hired a physicist to figure out exactly what kind of glass would resonate at the same frequency as the LFA exhaust.

This GT2 RS gets 620 twin-turbocharged horses from its 3.6-liter engine, making it the most powerful Porsche you can legally put on the roads. That's 90 more horses pushing 154 pounds less weight than in the previous version, and it gets five percent better fuel economy. Ground control is handled with tires specifically created for the car, carrying it from 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds. On the one hand, that's 0.3 slower than the Porsche Turbo S; on the other, there's a 332 km/h top speed and a 7:18 'Ring time.

Oooops ! Volvo S60 Crashes During Safety Demonstration !

Safety is expected when you're Volvo, and when something goes wrong it's particularly embarrassing. Such was the case this week when media were invited to a demonstration of one of Volvo's latest latest safety technologies. The collision warning system on the S60 is supposed to detect an impending impacts and then autonomously apply the brakes to bring the vehicle to a halt, like this. Except it didn't !

Ferrari Takes Wraps Off New 599 GTO, Quicker Than An Enzo !

Ferrari has officially taken the wraps off its new performance benchmark, the 599 GTO, ahead of the car's official debut later this month at the Beijing Motor Show. Sort of a street-legal stepping point between the production 599 GTB Fiorano and the track-only 599XX, the 599 GTO evokes the famous Gran Turismo Omologato designation made famous by the legendary 250 GTO of the 1960s and the muscle-bound 288 GTO of the 1980s. That's quite a legacy to follow, so it's a good thing the 599 GTO brings the goods.

When you think of the Nürburgring, and what cars come to mind ? Porsche 911 GT3 ? BMW M5 ? Nissan GT-R ? How about a Suzuki Swift ? Is it really worthy of a Nürburgring edition à la Lexus LFA ? Well no, not really, but hold your horses there a minute, because the Suzuki Swift Sport "Rock am Ring" edition isn't about speeding around the road course. It's about the music, man.

Gallardo GT600 BF Performance Tuning !

This Lamborghini Gallardo tuning is called the GT600 and is by Swiss tuners BF Performance. The GT600 is based on the Gallardo LP560-4 in both coupe and spider versions. There is a complete aerodynamic kit made of carbonfibre, which is also used on interior panelling. Other features include vertically opening doors, sports seats with a four seatbelt set-up and the option of fitting a safety roll bar.

Whenever Audi introduces a new model, chances are that the folks at Abt Sportsline are going to get their hands on one. The German company has been tuning Volkswagens and Audis since the 1970s and has enjoyed success racing the Audi A4 in DTM and more recently the new R8 LMS. Needless to say, Abt knows how to properly modify cars bearing the four rings.

Daimler To Phase Out Maybach Brand !

Since its launch eight years ago, Maybach has largely been characterized as a failed venture. The ultra-premium counterpart to Mercedes-Benz never reached the sales figures which its rivals Bentley (part of the Volkswagen group) and Rolls-Royce (owned by BMW) have enjoyed in the superstrata of the luxury car market. That's largely come down its lackluster product, which appears to all to be little more than a gussied-up Mercedes S-Class, available in 57 and 62-decimeter lengths.

Brabus E V12 !

There's nothing new about Brabus stuffing a V12 into an E-Class. They've been doing it since 1996, and have been making twin-turbo models since 2003. The latest version is based off of the new E Coupe, and it's a much prettier car than the awkward looking E V12 Black Baron. Fortunately it does share the same engine - a 6.3-liter twin-turbo V12 putting out 800 horsepower and 1047 lb-ft torque. Brabus quotes a 0-100 km/h time of just 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 372 km/h.

At the Geneva Motor Show Bentley just unveiled a stunning two-door station wagon or "shooting brake" model dubbed the Continental Flying Star built by Italian coachwork firm Touring Superleggera. Based on either the Bentley Continental GTC with a 560 hp twin-turbo 6.0-liter W12 engine, or the GTC Speed with a 610 hp engine, only 20 examples will be built at a base price of about RM 2.688 Million a piece (BEFORE tax).

It's the first successor to the original Gallardo Superleggera ("superlight" in Italian) that debuted in 2007 and will sit atop the Gallardo range as the little Lambo to beat.
