So, today I've managed to get hold of this monster 4.3 inches touch screen Windows Mobile device from a very nice gentlemen. The first thing I've got to let you guys know is - it's bloody HUGE and it's bloody HEAVY ! Mind you, I have a Nokia 8800 Sapphire Arte which already feel extremely rock solid and on the heavy side (150 gram to be exact), but this HTC HD2 is heavier than the gem-stone leather clad Nokia 8 Series. Unbelievable ! A capacitive touchscreen on a Windows Mobile ? No way ? Well, you'd better get used to it because they are just going to keep on coming. The HTC HD2 may be the first of its kind but the next ones are just around the corner. And what's even more important, a capacitive screen gives WinMo unmatched and absolutely unexpected user friendliness. With the large screen, icons are big, almost huge, and you can easily thumb your way around the menu and apps. The key fetures includes the following :
-Huge 4.3" 65K-color WVGA glass-covered capacitive touchscreen
-Multi-touch input
-Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional OS with Sense UI
-Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 1 GHz CPU and 448MB RAM
-Quad-band GSM support
-3G with HSDPA 7.2Mbps
-Wi-Fi connectivity
-Built-in GPS receiver with A-GPS support
-Stereo FM radio with RDS
-5 MP autofocus camera with dual LED flash and touch focus
-VGA video recording at 30fps
-microSD card slot
-Standard microUSB port and Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP
-Standard 3.5mm audio jack
-MS Office Mobile document editor
-Opera 9.5 web browser
-YouTube client, Facebook and Twitter integration
My initial impression after playing with the software for the 1st time - I've never used any Windows Mobile device which is half as smooth and as fast as this HD2. It's the best Windows Mobile PDA money could buy to date. Period.
Below are some of my unboxing photos and comparison with my other devices. I will write a detail review soon after I explore everything hidden in this beast ! Stay tuned for more ...
